Ellsworth shells Prescott for 17-6 win
There was nowhere for Prescott's pitchers to hide at Young Field in Ellsworth as the Hubbers belted six home runs in a 17-6 win in seven innings Friday, their first home game of the season.
Both the Hubbers Scott DeWyre and J.P. Paulson hit two home runs with Paulson belting a grand slam in the sixth. He had five RBIs. DeWyre was a perfect 3-for-3, hitting an RBI-double in the first inning.
Paulson and DeWyre hit back-to-back homers in the second and then in the fourth inning DeWyre, Cody Holden and Lance Hove all home runs right in a row. Prescott used three pitchers in the game yet to no avail.
Holden was the winning pitcher and he held the Pirates to just two hits after the first inning. Ellsworth also played great defense as centerfielder Nate Hove caught the final out backhanded right at the outfield fence.
Nick Johnson led Prescott with two hits, including a homer. Both he and teammate Brady Randolph scored twice. Holden and De Wyre scored three times.
Both teams were tied for first place in the South Division going into the game.
