Ellsworth Village board says no to Ultimate Fighting
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

A debate over whether Ultimate Fighting should be in Ellsworth was the main topic of village board discussion Monday.

Broz Bar had scheduled a street dance for 5 p.m.-1:30 a.m. July 12-13. Owner Jason Marks came to the board, requesting the starting time be advanced two hours so an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event can be held before the dance.

"The more we can make, the more we can donate," Marks said, who estimated most of the proceeds from the day would go to the Safe Route program.

Board members grew uncomfortable with the idea of such an event on village property.

"It's a big stretch going from a street dance to Ultimate Fighting," said Trustee Dave Deiss.
