Ellsworth wrestlers complete another undefeated MBC season

Ellsworth High School's wrestling team completed another undefeated Middle Border Conference season Monday winning a rescheduled dual meet at home over Durand by a 74-3 score.

The No. 1 ranked Panthers have gone undefeated in league action every season since 1997. EHS's winning streak now stands at 125 dual meet wins in a row against league foes, including 62 straight at home and 68 in a row on the road.

Seven Ellsworth wrestlers won by pinfall, including Gabe Mancino at 113, Hunter Piepenburg at 120, Devin Drier at 132, Jacob Fusch at 145, Rhett Borth at 160, Kenny Stoew at 220 and Brodey Kemmerer at heavyweight. Max Kuehn won by tech. fall at 152 and Cole Toenjes topped one of Durand's best wrestlers, Hunter Adler, by a 9-5 score at 138.

Ellsworth closes the regular season with a 16-3 overall record. They will wrestle for the Middle Border Conference title Saturday in Osceola at the MBC meet.
