Ellsworth wrestlers just miss vs. K-M, Prescott 2nd and SVE wins Shell Lake title (PCH Wrestling Honor Roll)

All PCH area wrestling teams were in action Saturday and had a great deal of success.

The No. 1 ranked Ellsworth team again couldn't get at Kasson-Mantorville, Minn., losing to the KoMets in the  Swalla Duals Invitational 36-33 to the No. 5 ranked team in Minnesota Class AA. However, one of the Panthers' wins yesterday was against Prior Lake, ranked No. 3 in Minnesota Class AAA, by a 34-31 score. Heavyweight Brodey Kemmerer returned to the line-up from injury and scored a pinfall in the final match against Prior Lake which put EHS in the finals. Ellsworth also beat NRHEG, Minn. 57-6 and Centennial 54-14 in pool dual meets. EHS is 14-3 overall.

Spring Valley/Elmwood was a big winner at the 10-team Shell Lake Duals Challenge. Not only did the No. 1 Redbird varsity team score 436 points but its varsity reserve squad scored 228 to finish third. Eleven SVE varsity wrestlers took first places in their weight classes including Andrew Webb at 106, derek Huebel at 113, Cruze Hulburt at 120, Tyler Berg at 126, Logan Newton at 132, Isaiah Eitrem at 138, Zach Newton at 145, Jed Schlegel at 152, Tyler Miller at 160, Keven Fesenmaier at 170 and Ethan Hofacker at 195.

Prescott finished second in the 15-team Arcadia Raider Challenge. Melrose-Mindoro/Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau took first with 397 points while PHS was second with 376.5. Two Cardinal wrestler came away with first place titles, Paul Hansen at 126 and Troy Urman at 152.
