Ellsworth's Dumermuth a Wisconsin finalist for math teaching award

The second time just might be the charm for Ellsworth High School Math, Physics and Science Teacher Curt Dumermuth.

Approximately seven years ago, he was nominated by former EHS Principal Charles Buckel for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, Dumermuth said Friday. But nothing came of it, he said.

A different outcome occurred when the local teacher was again nominated for the award around two years ago, this time by EHS Principal Mark Stoesz. Dumermuth learned this summer he's one of three finalists from Wisconsin in the math competition and one of six overall from the state for 2009.
