Ellsworth's last home dual meet Thursday vs. Prescott
The final regular home dual meet for the No.2 ranked Ellsworth High School wrestling team takes place Thursday evening at 7 p.m. against Pierce County rival Prescott.
Ellsworth is 13-2 overall and 5-0 in the Middle Border Conference while Prescott is 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
The Cardinals have won three straight MBC duals coming into Thursday's meet but they know they'll have to do more to stay competitive with the Panthers, who have won 75 straight conference duals.
"You have to wrestle at your best and then go beyond that when you wrestle Ellsworth," Prescott head coach Paul Johnson said.
Some potential big match ups may pit Ellsworth's Jens Lantz (25-1) against Prescott's Josh Farr (13-1) at either 103 or 112 pounds. Both wrestlers have a combined two losses between them so far this season. There's also PHS' Troy Urman (8-7) against Brad Cain (14-10) at 119; the Cardinals Colton Purfeerst (9-7) vs. Logan Kemmerer (12-11) at 145; Matt Pechacek (11-6) vs. Ellsworth's Noah McLay (24-2) at 171; Tyler Dahl (10-8) vs. the Panthers' Parker Hines (24-3) at 189.
Prescott also wrestles this weekend at the Arcadia Raider Challenge. The Ellsworth gym will still have wrestling in a few weeks at the Middle Border Conference meets comes to town Feb. 5.
