MINNEAPOLIS - Elmwood High School's boys' basketball team got to be part of the Minnesota Timberwolves's annual Basketball Academy Saturday evening, playing a non-conference game vs. Frederic at the Target Center.

While the experience of playing in the Target Center was nice, unfortunately for the Raiders, the basketball lesson was a hard one as they lost 45-26.

Elmwood was held below 10 points a quarter until the fourth. EHS was held to just two points in the second quarter alone. While the Vikings, 10-6 overall, only led 19-10 at halftime, they put the game away in the third quarter by a 19-6 margin. The Raiders were unable to handle Frederic's full-court press.

"Defensively I thought we played well, especially so in the first half," Elmwood head coach Chris Segerstrom said. "But we had the same struggle on offense tonight that we've had all season and that's getting into a set and operating from there because we commit way too many turnovers."

Only three players scored for EHS. Levi Wolf led the way with 16 points. Nick Bechel had six points and Jacob Pickerign had two points. Zach Schmidt led Frederic with 14 points.

Elmwood dropped to 1-15 overall.
