Elmwood boys hoops gets first D-SC win
ELMWOOD - The Elmwood High School boys' basketball team won its first Dunn-St. Croix Conference game Tuesday 53-44 over Boyceville.
The Raiders got off to a good start leading 16-4 and outscored the Bulldogs 11-2 in the third quarter for a 34-22 lead.
"We really had good scoring balance with a lot of players giving us points we really hadn't had throughout much of the season," EHS head coach Chris Segerstrom said.
Nick Bechel led the Raiders in scoring with 12 points and Noah Wells finished with 10. Levi Wolf finished with eight points but he pulled down a team-best 13 rebounds. Bechel grabbed 12 boards for the double-double.
Also in the D-SC Tuesday, Spring Valley had a better outcome against No. 5 Elk Mound than their first meeting vs. Mounders. However the end result was the same, a 60-41 loss at home. Plum City dropped its third straight contest, losing 71-47 at Mondovi.
