The win brightened Elmwood mood after dark Saturday despite the bright, sunny skies.  A sacrifice fly by Travis Balster into right field scored Skip Bohmbach for the winning run as Bay City edged Elmwood at Hortenbach Park

The Bombers scored three runs in the in the third inning to lead 4-2 but the Expos tied the score in the eighth with a pair of runs thanks to RBI-singles by Jonah Lansing and Brett Keys. The Expos hit four singles in a row with two outs from Adam Churchill, Holden, Lansing and Keys.

BC loaded the bases in bottom of the eighth but Elmwood was able to escape with a double play to end the inning as Keys caught a pop-fly at first base and doubled-up the runner there . However, Elmwood wasn't able to escape in the bottom of the ninth as the Bombers loaded the bases again with one out with Balster coming to bat.

Tony Schultz was the winning pitcher. He went all nine innings and held the Expos in check on offense until late in the ballgame. Justin Lance nailed a two-RBI single for BC while Jordan Eggenberger also drove in a run. Dan Giese had three hits for BC while Balster had two. Plum City could only manage two runs despite 11 hits at St. Croix Falls. Tanner Eggenberger had three of those hits while PC’s Nick LaFreniere and Zach Watkins both had two hits. Watkins and teammate Kevin Anderson both hit doubles.

Despite playing their third game in 24 hours, the Blues still went to Oakey Park and downed Osceola. Watkins ripped a two-run homer in the first inning and Brice Pelzel had the game-winning single in the eighth which scored Cole Carroll. Tony Garner was the winning pitcher as he scattered six hits while striking out nine and allowing only two walks. Pelzel, Anderson and Watkins all had two hits.

There was no bounce back for Hager City. The Skeeters were crushed at Osceola 9-1 Friday as they were held to just one hit by winning pitcher Joe Reed. HC then lost a 12-inning battle at St. Croix Falls early Saturday afternoon 5-4.  Tim Green and Tyler Regnier both had three hits for the Skeeters. Teammates Dane Brathol and Ross Sweig both drove in runs.

The win was one of three in a row last week for the River Bandits which puts them in second place in the Red Cedar Division.
