ELMWOOD -- Two Pierce County schools, Elmwood and Plum City, have been holding homecoming festivities this week, culminating in the football game, each set for Friday night.


Elmwood (4-1 overall) will host Cornell (1-4), while the Blue Devils (5-0) will entertain New Auburn (1-3). Elmwood's game is scheduled for 7 p.m., while Plum City's game starts at 7:30 p.m.


The Raiders have planned a dress-up theme for each day of the week. Wednesday is Disney Movie Character Day, while Thursday is Hawaiian Day.

A pep fest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Some of the scheduled events include performances by the band and dance teams, announcement of all the athletic teams, a tug of war, class skits, and the crowning of the king and queen.

Friday's theme is school spirit day. The second pep fest is scheduled from 1:30-2:25 p.m. Festivities there include apple bobbing, grapefruit passing, lip sync/dance competition, and additional performances by the band and dance teams.

After the pep fest, the parade starts at 2:30 p.m., followed by the watermelon feed 30 minutes later.

Plum City

Plum City will crown its king and queen Tuesday night at a bonfire at Legion Park following the volleyball game against Glenwood City.

Wednesday's dress-up theme is fake an injury, with the noon activity being boys' volleyball. Thursday's theme is twin day, with the noon activity being the obstacle course.

Friday's theme is school pride. Hall judging begins at 9 a.m., with hypnotist Jason Mystic scheduled to perform at 1:15 p.m. A pep rally is scheduled for 2:15 p.m., with powder puff football to follow.

The queen and her court will be featured at halftime of the football game. A party will be then held afterward at Jeff and Margaret Hartung's.

Homecoming events conclude Saturday with a grand march scheduled for 5:45 p.m., followed by a departure at 6:20 p.m. for Club 10 near Durand. The bus returns to Plum City at 11:20 p.m.
