Elmwood wins key D-SC contest over Colfax in overtime
ELMWOOD - Despite foul trouble and sheer exhaustion from the intensity and hard play of the game, Elmwood High School's boys' basketball team still outlasted Colfax 79-74 in overtime Tuesday.
Trailing 71-69 two minutes into the extra session, Seth Jones buried a three-pointer from the top of the key to put the Raiders ahead 72-71. And ahead is where Elmwood stayed as they built their lead up to 79-71 with made free-throws and rebound basket by Kyle Webb. Colfax was also hurt by two critical turnovers in the overtime period as well. The Vikings' lone basket in the last three minutes was a three-pointer at the buzzer by Austin Huss, part a 37-point effort which kept Colfax in the contest, 30 of which came in the second half alone.
Jones also had a big second half when it came to points as he finished with 22 to lead the team. EHS had the more balanced scoring table as Webb and Logan Wolf each had 17 points, Levi Wolf and Eli Fredrickson both had seven points and Tom LaFlex fnished with six points.
Also in the D-SC last night, Spring Valley got its first win of the season as they topped Boyceville 56-48 and Plum City nearly got its first win, losing 55-54 to Glenwood City.
