EPC girls track take second at SCC Invite, Prescott boys third

HAMMOND - All four Pierce County prep track and field teams competed at the St. Croix Central Invitational Tuesday, making up 40 percent of the field.

Elmwood/Plum City's girls' track team finished second just a few points behind the host school. Prescott was fourth and Ellsworth fifth.

Prescott's boys finished third and Spring Valley took fourth. Somerset won the boys' meet title.

County winners in the girls' meet were EPC's 3200-meter relay team of Libby Feuker, Kylee Sabelko, Kaitlyn Lee and Elaina Danzinger in 10:38:45; Sarah Gilles in the 100-meter high hurdles in :17.43 and the 300-meter low hurdles in :50.01 seconds; Amanda Murphy of Prescott in the 1600-meter run in 5:57.37; Danzinger in the 800-meter run in 2:38.46; EPC's 1600-meter relay team of Gilles, Danzinger, Lee and Danielle Hovland in 4:34.94 and Gilles in the triple jump with a leap of 32 feet, four inches. 

Spring Valley's Zac Webster swept all before him again in the jumping events. He won the high jump at 6-2, the long jump with a mark of 22 feet even and the triple jump with a leap of 43-11. Teammate Aiden Manley won the 3200-meter run in 11:02.21. 

Other county boys' winners were Prescott's Garrett Ryan in the discus with a throw of 128-7. He also finished second in the shot put. PHS's 1600-meter relay team of Jack Geiger, Monty Stenroos, Nolan Schock and Pat Ballosh won first in time of 3:39.7. The Cardinals also got a win from their 3200-meter relay team of Stenroos, Geiger, Schock and Phillip Pena in 9:04.43. Ballosh won the 400-meter dash in :52.98 seconds with Geiger in second. EPC's Peter Fenter won the 800-meter run in 2:09.89 and teammate Andrew Gilles was a winner in the 1600-meter run in 4:51.32.

EPC and Spring Valley will compete at the Amery Invitational Thursday while Ellsworth and Prescott will be at the New Richmond Relays on Friday.
