Event planned to benefit Turningpoint
UW-River Falls Marketing Communications students will be hosting "Turn It Up For Turningpoint," at Juniors Bar and Grill on Thursday, May 9 to
raise money for River Falls Turningpoint.
The event will start at 7 p.m. with a bean bag tournament and live music will begin at 8 p.m.
Cash donations will be collected on behalf of Turningpoint For Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence.
"We are excited to host this benefit and raise money for a local non-profit, Turningpoint," said Jacki Roden, a Marketing Communications student helping host the event. "Not only are we bringing the community together, but we are bringing them together for a good cause; to raise money to help those in our community who are in need." Roden added, "It's been a great experience planning an event like this for a class, rather than doing regular assignments and exams. I have learned more from this real-life situation, than if I would be taking exams. I'm grateful to have this experience during college."
All proceeds will be donated to River Falls Turningpoint whose
mission is to empower those who have experienced domestic or sexual violence by providing necessary resources to achieve freedom from violence through community support and education.
Entry fee for the bean bag tournament is $10 per team of two. For more
information on the tournament, interested parties can contact Anne Moore at
Suggested donation for this event is $3.
