Ex-ADA sentenced to jail for OWI
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

A former Pierce County Assistant District Attorney was sentenced to 20 days jail Friday after pleading guilty to his second OWI.

Thomas Greg Amann, 56, was also ordered by St. Croix County Judge Eric Lundell to pay a $1,235 fine and have his license revoked for 14 months.

The sentence follows a charge from an incident last February when St. Croix County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a crash near a curve in the road on County Road A. A car drove into a ditch and crashed into trees. Officers followed footprints in the fresh snow into the woods, across the NorLake parking lot and into the woods again, their report said.

Eventually, Amann was apprehended by a deputy without incident. He refused to take field sobriety tests and refused a blood test later at a hospital, but didn’t resist, said Chief Deputy Scott Knudson.

Besides the OWI charge, Amann was also charged with operating with a prohibited alcohol content, failure to notify police of accident, failure to keep vehicle under control and refusal to take test for intoxication after arrest. Those charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Amann was convicted of his first OWI infraction in October 2011.

Shortly after this incident, Amann was replaced as Pierce County assistant district attorney by Rory O’ Sullivan.
