Ex-official convicted of misconduct has prison sentence stayed
HUDSON, Wis. -- A former St. Joseph official convicted of felony forgery and misconduct in office was sentenced Friday in St. Croix County Circuit Court.
Judge Eric J. Lundell ordered Mary Evelyn Stanley to serve three years in prison and three years’ extended supervision, then stayed the prison sentenced in lieu of three years’ probation on the forgery charge. Stanley was also sentenced to one year and six months in prison and two years’ extended supervision on the misconduct charge to run concurrently. The prison sentence was stayed and probation ordered.
Conditions of Stanley’s probation included restitution of $22,630, including payments to the town of St. Joseph and to St. Croix County for transportation.
She was also ordered to maintain full-time employment, go through a psychological evaluation and follow up with its recommendations, never seek or obtain public office and pay court costs of $268.
