Fair animal auction delivers improved results for beef exhibitors, less overall for everyone

Friday night's Meat Animal Auction at the Pierce County Fair brought decent returns for 4-H and FFA members who sold beef animals but markedly softer rewards for youths selling hogs and sheep.

The average price per pound for beef animals is the only statistic that showed up better than last year, according to volunteer Frank Brown, who has provided computer reporting of the sale for many years.
