Miles Jacob Keilas faces seven felony charges of possession of pornographic work involving minors after the Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant at his home Feb. 18.

According to a complaint filed in the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, Keilas led agents from the DHS to a lockbox in his bedroom. Inside were 144 photographs, 56 of which were determined to contain child pornography.

The complaint lists the content of nine of the photographs. Each photo contains images of boys between the ages of 2 and 10. In some instances the children are performing sexual acts on an unknown man. One photograph includes a naked 2- to 4-year-old girl.

When DHS agents executed the search warrant, they also allegedly located a home movie in which the defendant is sexually aroused while filming a 6- to 8-year-old boy. The movie showed Keilas and the child on a couch in Kielas’ residence. The movie was found in a Playstation 3 game system in Kielas’ bedroom.

The child is a Farmington resident. Farmington Police Chief Brian Lindquist said the child’s family has been notified and is working with police. The matter remains under investigation, he said.

Farmington police planned to meet with the Dakota County Attorney’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security agents Wednesday to determine the next steps in the investigation.

“We are going to decide how to go forward from here and what would be the most prudent way to ensure the safety of our residents. We want to maintain the integrity of this investigation, identify if there are any more victims and provide services as needed,” Lindquist said.

Kielas was arrested Feb. 27. He appeared in Dakota County Court on Feb. 28. Bail for Keilas is set at $125,000. His next court appearance is April 1.
