Festival chairman accused of sexual assault
HUDSON, Wis. -- A 45-year-old man who chairs an annual community festival faces charges of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old boy.
Felony charges of sexual assault of a child under 13 and possession of child pornography were filed Monday against Daniel A. Barber of Hudson.
According to a criminal complaint, Barber, chairman of the North Hudson Pepper Fest committee, is accused of inappropriate touching of the boy who was staying overnight at his home in 2011 and possession of child pornography on several electronic devices he owns.
The complaint originated when the boy’s father contacted authorities Feb. 11. The boy, now 8, told his father, and later a St. Croix County investigator, that he slept in Barber’s bed on an overnight stay at Barber’s home.
Investigators also said they wanted to interview Barber “regarding allegations of sexual assault of several young boys that had been received by law enforcement agencies in the past.”
