Fire destroys house in Town of River Falls
Fire destroyed a house in the southeast part of the Town of River Falls Thursday evening.
Fire fighters were called to a residence fronting the Peter Pechacek property at W8248 690th Ave. (Forestville Road), about a mile west of Hwy. 65, shortly after 5:30 p.m. The single-level home on a wooded lot with a garage nearby was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived; flames were visible through the house's front windows, at least one of which had been broken out.
Unofficial reports at the scene indicated it was a rental home and none of the occupants were there at the time of the blaze. The cause for the fire was unknown early Thursday evening.
Fire departments from River Falls and Ellsworth responded, along with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
