Fish edge Pirates 6-3

PRESCOTT - In a showdown between the top two teams in the St. Croix Valley League, defending WBA champ River Falls edged Prescott 6-3 Saturday afternoon at Firehall Field.

The Fish plated two key runs in the fourth inning to give themselves a three-run cushion. No other runs were scored for the duration of the ballgame.

River Falls had nine hits to Prescott's eight but the Fish had the big hits like Nate Brom's home run and doubles by Tyler Hunter and Marty Herum.

Nick Johnson led the Pirates with three hits while Billy Brokshaw had two to go with two stolen bases. Johnson also drove in a run as did teammate Chris Terrazas.

Matt Walker was the winning pitcher.
