Fitness Influence to run youth sports program this summer
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

With the weather turning warmer, along with the rising gas prices, Heather Flock wanted something close that her children, Halle, age five, and Kohl, four, could do to get some exercise this summer.

"Besides the (Ellsworth) T-Ball program, there are not many other things for children in the area," Flock said.

As it turns out, she didn't have to look too far for a solution: herself.

As owner of Fitness Influence, Flock is starting a summer youth sports program for area children ages 4-12, from June 2-Aug. 20, with no programs scheduled for June 30-July 6. The program will originate from Flock's home at W6570 CTH N, Beldenville.

"It's a hard season to run a fitness program because everyone wants to be outside," Flock said.

Ages 4-6 will have their turn 9:30-10:10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-12:10 p.m. every Monday, with ages 6-8 going 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and will see ages 5-6 go from 6-7 p.m. and ages 9-12 run from 7-8 p.m.

For the June and August sessions, the focus will be on soccer.

"Kids need fresh air and they need to move," she said. "No one is going to be sitting. Everyone is going to touch the ball and be involved."

Flock explained each session will consist of drills, rules, techniques, along with practice games.

"Soccer is a wide range," she said. "One can kick it, run it, pick it up or throw it in. It's an all around fun game to play."

Flock will give children a break from soccer in July and will instead focus on kickball, Frisbee and softball. And she added parents are more than welcome to watch their children practice or go work out in Fitness Influence.

Flock has had previous knowledge in this area, as she ran a youth sports program for the YMCA in La Crosse when she was attending UW-La Crosse. "It was a great experience," she said.

Cost for the program is $30 per child for each month or $75 per child for the entire summer. For two children, costs are $55 for the month and $125 for the summer.
