Jim and Lorna Ross, owners of Flat Pennies Ice Cream in Bay City, along with Pierce County Sheriff Nancy Hove, each holding a copy of "Climb Aboard," a book based on the Ross' experiences in opening the ice cream shop. The Ross' gave copies of the book to go in sheriff's department patrol cars to be used in crisis situations.

Jim Ross explained that, when the book "Climb Aboard" was first published last March, it caught the attention of one person in particular.


"I was having discussions with the (Pierce County) Sheriff (Nancy Hove) and she felt it would be a good book to have in their squad cars," said Ross, owner of Flat Pennies Ice Cream in Bay City whose personal story was the inspiration for Climb Aboard (the book was written by local resident Susan Huppert).
