Florence Elizabeth Carlberg, age 91, formally of Boyceville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at Anoka Care Center, Anoka, Minn.
She was born in El Paso, Wis., Aug. 5, 1918, to Harry Philo and Echo Edith (Borchert) Sanford. Florence married Howard Carlberg in 1971.
Florence enjoyed writing poetry and singing. She worked as manager and cashier at Cantan Garden's in New Jersey. She also worked as a seamstress at R.F. Lang, River Falls.
Florence is survived by her brother Kenneth R. (Agnes) Sanford of Marco Island, Fla.; niece Sandra Sivula who was her caregiver; and by other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters: Ida, Helen, Alice; three brothers: Walter, Floyd, Johnny; her parents; and step father Thomas Erickson.
The funeral for Florence was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Hill Funeral Home in Ellsworth with Sister Judy Kramer, O.S.B., of Saint Bede Monastery of Eau Claire officiating. Interment was at Zion Covenant Cemetery, Ellsworth.
Pallbearers were Fred Parmeter, Walter Sanford, Lloyd O'Keefe, Tyler King, Gary King, Rocco Fell, and Mike Sivula. Friends were invited to call from 1 p.m. until the services at Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Memorials would be preferred.
