Four Badgers drafted; four others sign free agent deals
Four Wisconsin Badgers were drafted Sunday, all in the third round.
The Oakland Raiders took defensive end Matt Shaughnessy with the 71st overall pick. Linebacker DeAndre Levy was taken by Detroit as the 76th pick. Pittsburgh selected Badgers' guard Kraig Urbik at Number 79.
And tight end Travis Beckum was taken 100th by the New York Giants. Free safety Nick Schommer of Prescott was taken in the seventh round by Tennessee.
He played his college ball at North Dakota State.
After the draft, four Badgers signed free-agent deals: linebacker Jonathan Casillas with New Orleans, fullback Chris Pressley with Cincinnati, fullback Bill Rentmeester with San Diego, and guard Andy Kemp with the Minnesota Vikings.
Also, Jose Valdez of St. Francis agreed to terms with Atlanta. And Badgers' long snapper Dave Peck will get a try-out with the Chicago Bears.
