Four titles for Spring Valley boys in D-3 sectional meet
COLFAX - The Spring Valley High School boys's track and field team racked up four sectional titles at the WIAA Division 3 Colfax Sectional Friday.
Senior Zac Webster had his hand in all of them. He won the high jump with a leap of six feet, two inches. He won the triple jump with a mark of 44-9 and he won the long jump with a leap of 21-4.
Webster was also a part of SV's winning 1600-meter relay squad. They took first with a time of 3:32.02. Also on the team were Devin Larson, Jacob Reilly and Tyler O'Keefe.
The Cardinals had the points to compete for the sectional title but finished in third place. Chippewa Falls McDonell took first with 58 points while Turtle Lake/Clayton was second with 52 and Spring Valley had 51 points.
O'Keefe also qualified individually in the 400-meter dash, finishing in third place. Joining him will be teammate Aidan Manley as he finished fourth in the 3200-meter run.
Elmwood/Plum City boys' team qualified its 1600-meter relay team as they finished in fourth place. Team members are Peter Fenter, Tristan Bagley, Hogan Kernstock and Levi Wolf. EPC's Andrew Gilles finished fourth in the 800-meter run to qualify and could be an extra qualifier in the 1600 as he finished fifth. Wolf also finished sixth in the triple jump.
In the girls' meet, EPC's Sarah Gilles didn't win any titles but she's made the state meet in three events individually and in one relay. Gilles took second in the triple jump and third in both the 100-meter high and 300-meter low hurdles. She was also a part of EPC's qualifying 1600-meter relay team which finished third. Also on the team is Libby Feuker, Josie Tiffany and Kaitlyn Lee.
EPC's 3200-meter relay team also qualified for state by taking fourth place. Tiffany, Lee, Feuker and Kylee Sabelko are on that team. Spring Valley's 3200 relay team finished sixth and wait and see if they are an extra qualifing team.
EPC's girls finished in 10th place as a team while the boys' team was 17th.
