Friends of Freedom Park host annual fundraiser Saturday
PRESCOTT--The Friends of Freedom Park will be hosting its annual fundraiser, “The Great River Gala: An Evening at Prescott Landing,” from 5-8 p.m. this Saturday at The Ridgetop.
The theme of the evening will be reliving steam boating on the Mississippi River in the 1860s. Entertainment includes live sets of river-inspired music by the “Tin Pan Alley Cats”; river historian Dr. Lafitte, who will teach guests to play popular games from the 1860s like Faro and Spanish Monte; live and silent auctions; a “Wall of Wine” raffle sponsored by Valley Vineyard; and gourmet food, including desserts and custom-designed specialty drinks. Tickets are $45 per person.
The auctions feature many items, including vacation get-aways, local summer adventure packages, golf outings, a signed Packer football and other sports memorabilia, a guided tour of KARE-TV, channel 11, Twin Cities, with Belinda Jensen, a catered garden party dinner for eight people, a guided fishing trip, a weekend getaway at the St. James Hotel, gift certificates to Twin Cities attractions and local businesses, specialty baskets, original art, a commissioned painting by local artist Art Nordstrom, a limo-ride with wine tastings at local wineries for six guests, and more.
The “Wall of Valley Vineyard Wine” includes two cases of red and white wine produced by local winery Valley Vineyard and a Case Club Membership which entitles the bearer to monthly wine tastings at Valley Vineyard (with a total value of $810).
