Fund set up for Gabrielle Ryan
A fund has been set up for 17-year-old Gabrielle Ryan, who was seriously injured in a car accident earlier this month.
The Beldenville teenager was driving southbound on CTH J around 7:30 a.m. Oct. 2 when she failed to negotiate a curve. The car then entered the ditch on the north side of the road, struck a driveway embankment and vaulted into a guardrail. The vehicle rolled and came to rest in a farmyard on J.
Ryan is currently at Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul, where she is recovering from head injuries suffered in the accident. According to her aunt, Lynn Benrud, Ryan was in a coma for 19 days, but opened her eyes briefly and responded to a command for the first time Sunday.
"We feel good about these new things," Benrud said. "We needed it."
She added the doctors are still concerned about the swelling in her brain.
White Rock State Bank, along with St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Goodhue, Minn., has set up an account to help Ryan and her family. To donate, one can stop by any White Rock Bank location in Goodhue, Bellechester, Minn., Red Wing, White Rock, Minn., or Cannon Falls, Minn. Checks can also be made payable to St. Luke's Lutheran Church for the Benefit of Ellie Ryan or they can be mailed to: White Rock State Bank, Attn: Ellie Ryan Benefit, 202 Third Ave., Box 158, Goodhue, Minn., 55027.
