Funeral services for Debbie Sears Tuesday
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., April 22, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Beldenville for Debbie Sears, 55, who died Tuesday morning at her home outside of Ellsworth.
Pierce County Sheriff's Department Investigator Doug Ducklow said Dispatch received a call around 11 p.m., Monday night, from one of Sears' sons after she was found in the family barn. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Pierce County Medical Examiner John Worsing.
"Our belief is she got too close to a sick calf and the mother got protective," Ducklow said, noting Sears was kicked and died due to a head injury. "There was nothing suspicious. This was a tragic accident."
Duckow noted what was in the print version of the April 16 Herald had misinformation which brought undue harm onto the family, for which the Herald apologizes for.
Sears is survived by her two sons, Chad (Melissa) and Nathan (Jill), five grandchildren and four siblings. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Hill Funeral Home in Ellsworth and one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be at the Eidsvold Lutheran Cemetery in Esdaile.
