Due to high interest, Diana Alfuth, Horticulture Educator for UW-Extension, will be repeating the "Getting the Most from your Vegetable Garden" class held earlier this month.

Whether you're a new gardener or have been growing vegetables for years, you are probably always looking for ways to get the best production--the most tomatoes, the biggest onions, and the longest carrots--from your garden. There are a large number of things that can affect how much food the plants in your garden produce. After all, if you are putting a significant investment of time and effort into planting a garden, you should get as much produce as you can in return.

This UW-Extension class will help you learn how to get the most from your garden. Topics include planting choices, soil preparation, proper spacing and planting, companion planting options, best fertilization practices, pest and weed reduction strategies, optional growing methods, and season extension possibilities.

This session will be held Tuesday, May 1, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the River Falls Public Library. The class is free, but pre-registration is required. To register, please call the Pierce County UW-Extension office at 715-273-6781.
