Giese ready to take his talents to La Crosse
Dan Giese says he’ll miss not seeing the same people, whether it was classmates or teachers at Ellsworth High School, when he starts college this fall at University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
“They have been a big part of my life,” the 2014 Salutatorian said.
The number of people Giese has met over the last four years would say the same. He’s excelled in athletics, arts, and of course academics, as he finished second in his class.
“I was happy and surprised,” he said, when upon receiving the honor. “To finish top five in my class was awesome. It’s something I always wanted.”
Giese will be heading to La Crosse to major in the pre-med program.
“I like learning about the body,” he said. “There are also a lot of nurses in my family, so there is the interest in helping people.” It’s no surprise then he listed Anatomy and Physiology as his favorite class and has the hopes of working at the Mayo Clinic upon completion of his collegiate work.
This year has been a memorable one for Giese athletically as he was a member of the football team that won the Middle Border Conference for the first time in years and advanced to Level 3 of the WIAA playoffs.
