The girls' state high school basketball playoffs begin in earnest tonight (Tuesday).

There will be 440 teams in action in four divisions.

Two of the four defending champions have first-round byes -- Milwaukee Vincent in Division 1 and Grafton in Division 2.

Division 3 Cuba City will play this evening, as will Division 4 champion Flambeau.

In all, 25 schools have first-round byes, including all nine top seeds in Division 1.

Ten of the 16 top seeds have already advanced in Division 2, along with three each in Divisions 3 and 4.
