Glenwood City nursing home expansion catches fire, no injuries reported
GLENWOOD CITY - An expansion that was being built at a nursing home started on fire this morning in Glenwood City in far western Wisconsin.
The blaze broke out around five a-m at the Glenhaven Nursing Home. The main nursing home was not evacuated as of mid-morning, but authorities said residents were moved to a place away from the fire.
Saint Croix County sheriff's officials said the addition's roof has collapsed. No injuries have been reported.
Various media reports said about 100 fire-fighters from up to 20 departments were called. The new facility was being built on the west side of the 53-year-old building, which provides respite-and-short term care, plus therapy-and-rehab services for up to 44 residents.
