Goodhue County adds K9 unit
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office has recently added a new K9 unit.  Ambush is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois/German shepherd cross. He is cross-trained in narcotics and patrol work.

Ambush will be working with his handler, Deputy Matt Bowron. The pair recently completed a six-week basic K9 school at Vohne Liche Kennel in Peru, Ind.

Bowron has been with the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office since 2008. He and Ambush continue to train daily.

Ambush was donated to the sheriff’s office by K9s 4 Cops, a non-profit organization out of Texas that helps to provide law enforcement agencies with dogs. The K9 school was made possible, in part, through donations by the Zumbrota Ambulance and Goodhue County Electric Co-op.

In addition, Ambush will be receiving a bullet- and stab-protective vest thanks to the efforts of Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., charity located in East Taunton, Mass.
