Governor visits, talks business in New Richmond
Governor Scott Walker and the new CEO of Wisconsin's Economic Development Corporation, Reed Hall, traveled around the state this week to announced Hall's recent selection, including a stop at the New Richmond Regional Airport around 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31.
The two met and talked with representatives of business and of several area economic development corporations, including New Richmond and Amery; St. Croix, Pierce, Polk and Dunn counties; as well as the cities of New Richmond and Prescott and the regional group Momentum West.
Hall served as director of the Marshfield Clinic for 10 years and as its general counsel for 24 years. During his tenure with the medical facility, it added 63 regional clinics and about 600 physicians and grew to a total staff of 7,500 people.
Hall has served as interim CEO of the WEDC since November.
"Reed brings a fresh perspective and strong leadership to WEDC," said Walker in a press release. "Reed's experience at Marshfield Clinic, in numerous civic organizations, and involvement in creating private-sector jobs in Wisconsin makes him a perfect fit for this position."
The information also says the WEDC, evolving since its launch in 2001, focuses on four core areas as part of its economic development efforts: Business and industry development, economic and community development, entrepreneurship and innovation, and international business development.
