Eric Thompson of TGSCOM told the Green Bay Press-Gazette that he sold a Mag-loader and a factory magazine to George Sodini, 48.

But he denied a Pittsburgh TV report that his company also sold a gun to Sodini, who killed three women and wounded nine others at an aerobics class before turning the gun on himself.

Also, it was not clear if Sodini used any of the items he bought from Thompson's firm.

The company was also linked to the mass shootings at Virginia Tech in 2007 and Northern Illinois University a year later.

A mother of one of the Pittsburgh victims said there should be tighter regulations for online gun sales. But Thompson said the latest tragedy underscores the need for people to protect themselves, and not rely only on the police.

TGSCOM sells guns and sporting goods on more than 100 Web sites. It employs 37 people in Green Bay.
