Half-million dollar bond set for Sotona's killer

Email News Alerts

A half-million-dollar bond has been set for a driver that was being chased by a state trooper in Minneapolis, when he got into a crash that killed a western Wisconsin man. The State Patrol said 34-year-old Yia Her was speeding and driving drunk early Monday -- and as he eluded troopers, he collided with a vehicle and killed its driver, 20-year-old Brody Sotona of Spring Valley. A 24-year-old man who was Sotona's passenger remained hospitalized in critical condition as of yesterday. Authorities said Her's blood alcohol level was point-16, twice the legal limit in Minnesota. He was on probation at the time, following a sexual assault conviction from last year. Her is due back in court October ninth on two felony charges of causing death-or-injury while fleeing police.
