Harold A. Roude, 89

Harold A. Roude, age 89, of Ellsworth, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009, at Red Wing Health Center. 

He was born in Trenton Township on August 25, 1919, to Charles and Christine (Peterson) Roude.  Harold was united in marriage to Lorraine Stockwell on June 30 1962, at Bible Center Church, Rush River.  He worked for two farm implements in Ellsworth; and then he worked for the Pierce County Highway Department.  He also farmed at his home place. 

Harold enjoyed making things from wood like tables, cars, candy dishes, little crosses, a spinning wheel, and a grandfather clock.  He was also a very good mechanic; he could make anything work again.  He especially liked old engines.  He was always ready to help neighbors and friends with their machinery problems.  Harold was a welder by trade and was an avid fisherman and gardener.  Harold and his wife Lorraine enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States.

Harold is survived by his wife, Lorraine; brother-in-law, Leon (Nona) Stockwell; and cousins, Leon and Ken Morrison, and Roman and Roger "Huns" Peterson; further survived by many extended family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Harold will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Zion Covenant Church in Ellsworth with Pastor Corey Johnsrud officiating.  Interment will be in Trenton Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hill Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at church.
