Hart's return to Brewer line-up still a question
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Brewers’ first baseman Corey Hart has no idea when he can return from the right knee injury for which he had surgery last January. The Brewers overshot their projection that Hart would be back by early June. Now, there’s talk that Hart will not be ready after the All-Star break.

And while nobody’s saying it yet, it’s possible that the three-time All-Star could miss the entire season. Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke believes Hart can return this year, but there’s always a chance that he won’t.

Hart is frustrated, and the skipper says he can’t blame him. The 31-year-old Hart says he can do things on the field, but not quickly enough – and if he does fast motions with his right leg, it begins to collapse. He said he could have handled it better had the Brewers told him there was a good chance he’d be out for the year. He says it’s been frustrating to deal with deadlines – and now, he’s just taking it day-to-day. The Brewers certainly miss Hart’s production. They’ve tried several players at first base, without success. Milwaukee is last among the 30 big league teams with a .506 on-base-plus-slugging-percentage from the first base spot.

The Crew remains tied for last with Chicago in the National League Central. The two teams square off tonight at Miller Park. Right-hander Yovani Gallardo will start against Cubs’ right-hander Scott Feldman.
