Harvick wins first Nationwide Series race
RICHMOND, Minn. - Kevin Harvick says his car and team had led a lot of laps this season, but his victory at the Virginia College Savings 250 last night was his first Nationwide Series win of the season.
Harvick held of Ricky Stenhouse Junior for the victory at Richmond. The only Wisconsin driver in the field, Beloit-born Danica Patrick, finished 29th.
He didn't make his run until 43 of the 45 drivers had circled the track at the Richmond International Raceway, but Dale Earnhardt Jr. did what he needed to do. Earnhardt won the pole for today's Federated Auto Parts 400. Jeff Gordon starts second. Matt Kenseth's No. 17 car will start 17th today. That's the best position held at the start of the race by a Wisconsin driver.
Eau Claire's Paul Menard takes off 25th, while Travis Kvapil starts 32nd. Kenseth is fourth in the Sprint Cup Series points standings and is guaranteed a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup, which starts next week.
