Healthy alternative from creamery now in dairy cases

There's good news for cheese lovers who want their favorite dairy food to be growth-hormone-free.

The Ellsworth Valley line of cheeses from the Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery has arrived in area dairy cases. The line, which has been in production at the creamery's Comstock plant since last summer, is rBST- and rBGH-free.

"The sales force came up with the name," Beth Ingli of the local creamery said Thursday, suggesting it captures an attractive topographical feature of this vicinity. Ingli was joined by Tony Birkel and Paul Bauer in discussing the new product.
