Cody Holden tries to make it back to second base as Steve Bowe puts the tag on him.

BAY CITY - It didn't get much hotter than it did Sunday and it didn't get more exciting in town league baseball than the 10-inning thriller between Ellsworth and Bay City.

After losing in extra innings in Plum City the week before, Ellsworth this time pulled out an 8-6 win at Hortenbach Park in 10 innings as Lance Hove came on in relief to get the win.

Also unlike the week before, Ellsworth came back from a 4-0 deficit to make a 6-6 tie at the end of nine innings of play. The win was one of two for the Hubbers last week which have pulled them back over the .500 mark in the St. Croix Valley League.

Chuck Hewitt had four hits for Ellsworth, including a double and two RBIs. Hove hit a three RBI-double.

It will be a busy week of action in the St. Croix Valley League as teams try to get in their games before the end of the month. Tonight Plum City at Menomonie to play a make-up game at 7:30 p.m. Ellsworth hosts Menomonie Friday while Elmwood is at Hager City. Both games also start at 7:30 p.m.
