Hubbers routed by Menomonie, Bombers lose
Ellsworth and Bay City both took Fourth of July weekend losses in St. Croix Valley League play.
Both contests took place on Friday. The Bombers were beaten in New Richmond 6-1 and the Hubbers were crushed 16-2 in seven innings at Menomonie, their worst defeat of the season which also snapped a five-game winning streak in league play.
Cody Holden held Ellsworth's lone highlights of the ballgame, getting two hits and scoring both of the Hubs'runs.
Ellsworth still leads in the league standings in South Division however. The Hubbers have a SCVL record of 8-3 followed by Prescott 6-4, Plum City 6-4, Elmwood 5-7, Hager City 1-8 and Bay City 1-8
The North Division standings find River Falls on top at 7-1 followed by Menomonie at 6-3, New Richmond 5-3, Osceola 5-3, Hudson 5-4 and St. Croix Falls 2-6.
The SCVL schedule resumes Wednesday when Prescott travels to Menomonie, River Falls is at New Richmond and St. Croix Falls is at Osceola.
Locally, this Friday, Plum City is at Hager City and Bay City is at Ellsworth. First pitch in both games is at 7:30 p.m. Ellsworth also hosts Elmwood Saturday evening and Bay City is at Prescott in the afternoon that same day. Sunday's 1 p.m. games have Hudson at Elmwood, New Richmond at Prescott, River Falls at Plum City and St. Croix Falls at Hager City, which has a 3 p.m. start time.
