Hudson and New Richmond Wal-Marts teaming up with Homeland Security
Two Wisconsin Walmarts are teaming up with the Department of Homeland Security to make people more vigilant about possible terrorist threats.
Stores in Hudson and New Richmond are among over 230 Walmarts nationwide taking part in a campaign called "If You See Something, Say Something."
Shoppers waiting at the check-outs will see a video from U-S Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. She'll remind them that quote, "Homeland security begins with hometown security."
She told reporters that citizens play a key role in thwarting terrorist threats - like the one seven months ago in which a New York street vendor tipped off a police officer about a bombing attempt at Times Square. Company spokesman Dan Fogleman says that in many towns, residents see each other the most at their local Walmart. He says it's important for customers and employees to always be vigilant when they're out in public.
Napolitano gave a similar message to pilots at the EAA Air-Venture Show in Oshkosh this summer.
