Hudson boy meets the president

Jack Pomeroy, a second-grader at Willow River Elementary School, met President Barack Obama when he landed in the Twin Cities Thursday, June 26.

Jack has retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic disease that causes degeneration of the retina and a gradual decline in vision. His dad, Ryan, is a reservist with the 934th Airlift Wing in Minneapolis and was on hand when the president arrived. Jack is the son of Ryan and Heather Pomeroy of Hudson.

President Obama paid a two-day visit to the Twin Cities. He visited Matt's Bar in Northeast Minneapolis, where he ate a 'Jucy Lucy' hamburger and talked with a woman who had written him a letter about the struggles of working people.

The president also held a town hall meeting at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis gave a speech on economic policy speech at the Lake Harriet band shell.
