Hunters cautioned about recent wolf attacks on hunting dogs
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

State officials urge hunters to be extra careful in places where wolves have recently attacked and killed hunting dogs.

A fifth such incident was recently reported in Clark County in west central Wisconsin.

A male Plott hound was attacked by grey wolves on Aug. 15 near Neillsville. Officials said three wolf packs have been connected with the killings of hunting dogs this year in Clark County alone.

Similar incidents have taken place in other parts of north central Wisconsin.

The Department of Natural Resources says hunters should have their dogs on leashes, or at least keep a close eye on them in places where aggressive wolves have been roaming.
