Igou new vice principal, athletic director at Prescott High School
PRESCOTT--Kyle Igou is starting the next stage of his career in education with the Prescott School District.
Formerly a teacher and coach with the River Falls school system, Igou recently moved into an open administration role in Prescott. While new to administration, he comes to Prescott with a solid background in teaching and coaching, which will serve him well as vice principal/athletic director at Prescott High School.
Igou was raised in the Prairie du Chien area. After graduating from UW-River Falls, he spent two years teaching in Gillette before moving to River Falls. There, he taught at the high school for 10 years.
He was attracted to Prescott because it is similar to where he grew up and he is impressed with the sense of community.
“Prescott is small enough to know people by name, yet large enough to provide a lot of variety. It’s just a great community and I’m happy to be part of it,” Igou said.
He added that, as a coach, he was impressed with Dave Vortherms’ reputation as athletic director and looks forward to working with him in this new role.
“I feel that Mr. Vortherms and I will balance each other well in the administrative leadership at Prescott High School,” added Igou.
Igou said he looks forward to working with a larger population of students as vice principal/athletic director.
“Extra-curricular activities, including athletics, are so important to student development. I look forward to connecting to students through those opportunities,” he noted.
The vice principal/athletic director position was open as a result of Dave Vortherms accepting the high school principal position earlier this year.
