Iowa rally routs Gopher hoops squad
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Minnesota men's basketball team squandered a fast start and lost at Iowa 72-51 yesterday.
The Golden Gophers jumped out to a 21-5 lead eight minutes into the game, but Iowa blasted back to take a five-point lead at halftime. The Hawkeyes kept the pedal to the metal and built a 23-point lead at one point in the second half. Iowa outscored Minnesota 67-30 over the game's final 32 minutes. Austin Hollins paced Minnesota with 14 points.
The 18-8 overall, 6-7 in the Big Ten Golden Gophers will play at Ohio State on Wednesday night. The No. 13 Buckeyes were blasted by 19th-ranked Wisconsin 71-49 yesterday in Madison.
