It's Ellsworth-Prescott III as PHS wins regional semifinal, SV tops Regis

Ellsworth and Prescott's prep baseball teams will meet for the third time this season on Friday in a WIAA Division 2 regional tournament championship with EHS, as the top seed in the tournament, hosting. First pitch will be at 5 p.m.
Prescott advanced to the finals with a 3-0 regional semifinal win over Baldwin-Woodville at Firehall Field in Prescott.
Owen Schommer had three hits and scored a run to lead PHS. Teammate Mike Brookshaw drove in a run. Brady Schommer tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts to get the win.
No. 3 ranked Ellsworth and No. 5 Prescott both have identical 17-3 overall records and both split during the regular season.
Several Pierce County prep baseball teams were involved in regional semifinal match-ups Wednesday.
In Division 3, No. 2 seeded Spring Valley knocked off No. 3 seed Eau Claire Regis 2-1 at Syverson Park in Spring Valley. Zach Newton broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning by scoring off Sean Borgerding's single. Newton got on base with a double. He was also the winning pitcher, holding the Ramblers to just three hits.
Valley, 14-2 overall, will take on Mondovi in a match-up of Dunn-St. Croix Conference division winners in the regional final Friday in Spring Valley. The Buffaloes upset defending regional champion Osseo-Fairchild 10-9. First pitch will be at 5 p.m.
Plum City's season came to an end yesterday in a 7-1 loss at Alma/Pepin in Division 4. The Blue Devils complete their season with a 3-12 record.
