Schaffhausen is in court today as prosecutors prepare for trial in April. He's charged with homicide in the deaths of 11-year-old Amara, eight-year-old Sophie and five-year-old Cecilia during a visit to their home. Schaffhausen and the girls' mother were divorced and Schaffhausen had been living in North Dakota.

Last month, the judge ordered him to undergo psychiatric examinations, including with the prosecution's mental health experts. Schaffhausen has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
