Jury picked for Schaffhausen trial
Ellsworth Wisconsin 126 S. Chestnut St. 54011

HUDSON - A jury has been selected for the trial of the father accused of killing his three young children in their River Falls home last summer, and opening arguments are set to begin this morning.

Nine women and six men will decide if 35-year-old Aaron Schaffhausen was mentally stable when he slit his young daughter's throats last July. Schaffhausen pleaded guilty to murdering the children during a hearing last Thursday. Now the second phase of the trial will focus on Schaffhausen's mental state.

If a jury determines he was sane, Schaffhausen will get three life prison terms. If he's found insane, he'll be sent to a mental institution for an indefinite period.
